Debra received her B.A. in Linguistics and Spanish from the University of New Mexico. She is now pursuing an M.A in Spanish with a concentration in Hispanic Southwest Studies. Her particular research interests include a further exploration of Chicanx literature and folklore. She also is interested in exploring how American nationalism and imperialism have informed the construction of Chicanx and Latinx identities, particularly in the state of New Mexico.
