Mark graduated with his M.A. in Spanish from the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley. His research interests include sociolinguistics and heritage language maintenance, identity and pedagogy. Although not his primary field of interest, he is interested in the acquisition of Spanish as a Second Language, especially amongst native speakers of a language typologically similar to Spanish. He is a native south Texan and hopes to be able to begin researching this linguistically diverse regio
