BiographyMichael's research areas include sociolinguistics, sociology of language, language attitudes, Central Americans in the US, and Spanish language education. His dissertation looks at how intra-/interethnic attitudes among Salvadorans in Oregon interact with establishing a sense of belonging. He is also a new faculty member at Willamette University in Salem, Oregon where he is a Continuing Instructor of Spanish and Director of the 2016 Ecuador summer study abroad program.
