Curriculum Vitae

Biography

Sarah Peceny recently graduated with her Masters Degree from the University of New Mexico and is currently working within the department as a Visiting Lecturer and as administrative and coordination support to the current program coordinator of the Spanish as a Second Language Program.  As a graduate student, she helped to create the new SPAN 202: Introduction to Medical Spanish to act as a bridge course for students who needed further grammar instruction prior to registering for upper division medical Spanish courses.  In her new position, Professor Peceny will continue to expand the lower division medical Spanish courses, including broadening them and other Spanish courses to an online platform, in conjunction with possible study-abroad opportunities.  Other interests and possible areas of future research include 1) classroom-based language learning and acquisition and 2) types of accurate assessment that reflect successful communicative outcomes in second language learning environments.
