Biography

Elizabeth Zavala was born in Bakersfield California and received her Master's and Bachelor's degrees from New Mexico State University. She is now a doctoral student in Hispanic linguistics at the University of New Mexico. Her primary interests are research studies in the area of language contact, heritage speakers, code-switching, and bilingualism. Her secondary interests are morphology and syntax. This semester she is working as a TA at UNM teaching SHL classes for level II and III. Upon graduating from her PhD, her plans are to work at a university as an associate professor and possibly direct a heritage program. Elizabeth hopes to gain a lot of experience at this stage of her life so she can share her knowledge with others who are driven to learn!
