Biography

Sydney Wilson is a North Carolina native with family roots in New Mexico. She holds a B.A. in Psychology and Spanish from the University of North Carolina Asheville (2020) and a M.A. in Hispanic Studies from East Carolina University (2023). She is currently pursuing her Ph.D. in Hispanic Literature and serves as a Teaching Assistant in the SSL program. Her research focus is modern Latin American literature with a focus on the Southern Cone region. Her interests within this field include: • Feminist theory & representations of gender-based violence • Queer theory & LGBTQ+ representation • Neocolonialism & Globalization Outside of the classroom she loves traveling, art (both creating and consuming), spending time with her animals, and reading.
