Biography

Angélica María Pita Castro holds a bachelor's degree in Spanish, English, and French Language Teaching from Universidad de La Salle (Bogotá, Colombia) and a certificate in Teaching Spanish as a Second Language from Universidad Externado de Colombia. Throughout her academic and professional journey, she has taught in diverse contexts, including homeschool programs and educational projects with vulnerable populations, such as students in rehabilitation for substance use and adults who were unable to complete their basic education. She is currently pursuing a master's degree in Linguistics, an area where she combines her passion for teaching with research. Her academic interests are reflected in her article published in HOW Journal, in which she examines the development of pre-service language teachers’ identity based on Van Manen’s levels, an area she wishes to continue exploring. Beyond her academic path, Angélica enjoys music, dancing, going to the movies, learning languages, she speaks some German, as well as sports and family activities. Although her knee protests when playing soccer, she keeps her competitive spirit alive in lively games of parchis with her family in Colombia.
