CNM/UNM Humanities Now! Transfer Program

Are you planning to transfer from a Community College to UNM and complete a major or second major in Spanish or Portuguese? The NM Humanities Now! Program provides guidance, mentoring, stipends, and other services that will enhance your transfer experience. Please click on the link above for more information in English and Spanish.

The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation awarded in 2019 a generous grant to Central New Mexico Community College (CNM) and the University of New Mexico with the important goal of increase the number of students pursuing associate and bachelor’s degrees in the humanities and to support the transfer of humanities students from CNM and other community colleges to UNM.

The grant has been used in different capacities such as career fairs, outreach activities and other events created to stimulate students´ interest in the humanities. Our Department of Spanish and Portuguese has the honor and the responsibility to participate in this initiative. Students who participated last year reported they learned so much in the courses and found the close faculty contact and GA support extremely helpful in easing transferring to UNM!
