Évolet Aceves is a Mexican writer from Toluca, State of Mexico. She holds a BA in Psychology at the Autonomous University of the State of Mexico (UAEM) and the University of Warsaw; an MA in Chicana/o Studies at UNM; and an MFA in Creative Writing in Spanish at New York University, where she also taught as an adjunct professor. She’s now pursuing a PhD in Spanish with a concentration in Literature at UNM. Author of the novel Tapizado corazón de orquídeas negras (Tusquets, 2023; 2025); she’s included in the anthology Monstrua (UNAM, 2022) in which she published short stories, poems, and photographs.

Aceves writes multiple genres of fiction, non-fiction, and poetry; as a cultural journalist, she’s conducted multiple interviews with remarkable cultural figures in Mexico, and writes an opinion column for the Mexican newspaper Pie de Página in which she tackles cultural, quotidian, and fine-arts-related topics. She constantly collaborates with other magazines and newspapers, such as Milenio, Dominga, Laberinto, La Razón, Nexos, among others. Aceves is mostly interested in—19th and 20th century—literature, magazines and newspapers, art history, representations of vanity, and history of fashion.
