Biography
Fiona Weatherly is originally from Dallas, Texas, and technically began learning Spanish in seventh grade, but did not become interested in learning Spanish until high school. Fiona moved to Austin, Texas, in 2016, where she earned her B.A. In Psychology and Spanish from St. Edward's University. After completing her undergraduate studies, Fiona worked as a bilingual caseworker for Austin Travis County Integral Care in the IDD department. This work experience highlighted to Fiona the importance of language equality in mental health services and motivated her to pursue further education in Spanish. In 2022, Fiona moved to Madrid, Spain, where she studied her masters in Spanish at Saint Louis University Madrid. Fiona is currently pursuing her Ph.D. In Hispanic Literature, and serves as a teaching assistant in the SSL program. Her research interests focus on the interdisciplinary exploration of how 20th-century political and social conflicts in Spain and Latin America are reflected in the literary works of these regions during that period. In her free time, Fiona enjoys camping, spending time in nature, and hanging out with her cat, Mishka, as well as reading and engaging in esoteric activities such as Reiki and tarot.
