Biography
Jhuriany Salamanca holds a bachelor’s degree in Foreign Languages, with an emphasis in English and French, from Universidad Pedagógica y Tecnológica de Colombia. She has worked as a language teacher, teaching English, French, Portuguese, and Spanish as a foreign language to children, adolescents, and adults.
Her academic and professional interests include linguistic variation, applied linguistics, sociolinguistics, heritage languages, and foreign language teaching. Her research interests focus on the use of contextualized materials in language education and radio as a pedagogical tool for pre-service teachers to develop awareness of linguistic variation. She hopes to pursue doctoral studies and a career as a university professor and researcher.
Beyond academia, Jhuriany has experience as a radio host and enjoys music, playing the guitar, ukulele, and saxophone. In her free time, she enjoys hiking, running, writing, and cooking.
