Biography
Eva Rodríguez González (Ph.D. University of Kansas) is a Professor in Spanish Linguistics at the Department of Spanish and Portuguese, UNM-main campus. She has been Teaching Coordinator of the Spanish Second Language Program at UNM since 2014. Her academic expertise encompasses teaching graduate seminars on Language Pedagogy, Second Language Acquisition, and Applied Linguistics, with nearly two decades of experience in instructing college-level language teaching methodology courses. In addition to her teaching responsibilities, Dr. Rodríguez González has been Special Assistant to the Dean for Outcomes and Assessment in the College of Arts and Sciences since 2019. Her research focuses on adult language teaching and development, cognitive approaches to language acquisition, language assessment, and Spanish-English codeswitching. She has published extensively in esteemed journals, including the International Journal on Bilingualism, Journal of Second Language Teaching and Research, Journal of Spanish Psychology and Language.
Her recent editorial endeavor, "Language Assessment in Multilingual Settings: Innovative Practices Across Formal and Informal Environments" (2022), is an Open Access book that showcases alternative assessments under JEDI/DEIJ teaching practices. Her commitment to excellence has earned her numerous nominations and awards, including the UNM 2020 Outstanding Teaching of the Year award. Dr. Rodríguez González has also served on the Fulbright U.S. English Language Teaching Assistantships National Board Screening Committee and contributed to the New Mexico Public Education Department's Bilingual Seal Literacy High School Diploma Committee.
