In its 4th edition, Querencias is presented in a hybrid mode gathering for students in Spanishand Portuguese, and related areas. This is an open space to share projects, continuing research,theses dissertations, etc. We are pleased to announce our 2nd colloquium for undergraduatestudents where they are invited to share their final papers or capstone projects. We welcomeabstracts for presentations and themed panels in Portuguese, Spanish, or English from theseinterdisciplinary fields of study: Hispanic and Lusophone literature and cultural studies, Hispanicand Lusophone linguistics, and Southwest and Latin American studies. Research within this field is encouraged, but not limited to the following topics:
- linguistic variation
- dialectology
- language acquisition
- pragmatics
- semantics
- phonology
- syntax
- bilingualism
- historical and
- comparative linguistics
- language contact
- literary criticism
- cultural studies
- colonial studies
- political theory
- memory studies
- religion
- gender & sexuality studies
- indigenous studies
Submission Guidelines:
- For presentations, submit an abstract of up to 500 words (not including tables and references). For themed panels, only one proposal should be submitted per panel, including the topic (300 words) plus an additional description of how each presenter will contribute to it (500 words maximum each).
- Include some keywords.
- Please do not include any personal information in the abstract.
- Abstracts may be delivered in Portuguese, Spanish or English.
- Authors should aim for papers that are 15 min. long followed by a 10 min Q&A period. For undergrad presentations the time frame will be 10 min plus 5 of Q&A.
- We encourage in-person presentations. In your submission form, please note whether you prefer virtual participation. However, keep in mind that the number of virtual presentations will be limited.
- Abstracts must be submitted electronically in PDF format, in this link, or by scanning the qr code.
Do not include any personal information in the abstract.
